Ferrell made daily morning announcements over the public address system in disguised voices while he studied at University High School in Irvine. That experience made him interested in the show business career.

Ferrell joined the famous Los Angeles comedy group, The Groundlings where he met some Saturday Night Live former members like Jon Lovitz, Phil Hartman and Laraine Newman. He also met his best friend, Chris Kattan who would join SNL with Ferrel later. While he was with The Groundlings, Ferrel appearead in some TV programs, such as Strangers with Candy, Grace under Fire and Living Single.

In 1995, Ferrell joined Saturday Night Live cast member. He showed his talents of impersonations of wide variety of characters, such as President George W. Bush, Attorney General Janet Reno, who ended her tenure with the Clinton administration by doing the twist with Will live on ?Saturday Night;? Alex Trebek; ?Inside the Actors Studio? host James Lipton; lounge singer Robert Goulet and the late great Chicago Cubs sportscaster, Harry Caray. Ferrel was nominated for an Emmy for his impersonation of George W. Bush in 2000 elections.

Will Ferrell left SNL in 2002. He was the only cast member to ever receive a farewell from all the current cast members at the end of the season finale show. After leaving the show, Ferrel has pursued career in film. His movies include Zoolander, Old School, Elf, Starsky & Hutch and Anchorman.
