Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born in Concord, California. Hanks' parents were pioneers in the development of marriage dissolution law in California. Tom Hanks lived with a lot of step-families when he was a kid.
One of his biggest movies was Saving Private Ryan (1998). He received a Distinguished Public Service Award, which is US Navy's highest civilian honor for his role in that movie.
