Born as Jean Reese Witherspoon, Reese was born in a medical family. Her father, Dr. John Witherspoon, was a military surgeon, and her mother, Betty, was a registered nurse.
Resse lived with her family in Wiesbaden, Germany because of her father's duty in the US Army Reserves. They moved back to Nashville, Tennessee when Reese was four years old.
Witherspoon appeared on some local TV commercial. She won the Ten-State Talent Fair when she was 11.
Reese has appeared in several movies, such as Pleasantville, Election and Cruel Intentions. Her most famous movie is probably Legally Blonde, which followed by Sweet Home Alabama.
Reese is married to Ryan Phillippe in June 1999.
