Portia de Rossi was born and raised in Geelong, Australia. Originally
born Amanda Lee Rogers, at age 15, she changed her name to Portia. She
studied law at University of Melbourne. Portia de Rossi did not
intentionally pursue a career amidst the hype and glamour of the
entertainment industry.
In 1994 she played alongside Hugh Grant in a low-budget movie,
Sirens. Then in 1997, she was in Scream 2. Portia joined the Ally
McBeal cast for four seasons playing Nelle Porter.
Currently Portia de Rossi plays Lindsay, the cause-obsessed sister of Michael Bluth in Arrested Development which will begin its third season in fall 2005.
