Paul Stephen Rudd was born in New Jersey but raised in Overland Park, Kansas. Rudd's father is American and mother is English.
Paul attended Broadmoor Junior High and Shawnee Mission West High Schools. He graduated from high school in 1987 and then attended University of Kansas before he got accepted at American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.
During his study in American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Paul participated in three-months intensive workshop under the guidance of Michael Kahn at the British Drama Academy at Oxford University in England. Paul was also portrayed the title role in Hamlet which was directed by Ben Kingsley.
In 1991 Paul started appearing in TV series, Sisters. In 1994, he played Jimmy Rusoff in Runaway Daughters. He was cast in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers and the summer hit, Clueless.
In 2000, Paul starred in a Hong Kong-produced movie, Gen-X Cops 2: Metal Mayhem as Ian Curtis.
Paul also appeared in NBC's sitcom "Friends" as Phobe's boyfriend.
