Nicolas Cage was born in California to August Copolla (a brother of director Francis Ford Copolla and Joy Vogelsang. His birth name is Nicholas Kim Coppola.
Cage began acting at age 15 when he enrolled in San Francisco?s American Conservatory Theatre where he appeared in the school's production of Golden Boy.
He attended Beverly Hills High for studying theatre but he dropped out at 17.
Nicolas worked as lines reader for his uncle's (Francis Coppola) movie, Rumble Fish in 1983. The job led him to land a role in that film. In that same year, Nicolas Cage got a role in "Valley Girl" as a punk-rocker.
In 1998, he is ranked #37 in Premiere's 100 Most Powerful People in Hollywood.
In May 2001, Nicolas Cage was given an Honory Doctorate in Fine Arts by California State University, Fullerton.
