Kiefer Sutherland was born in London, England to Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas. Kiefer is also a grandson of Tommy Douglas, one of the Canada's most influential politicians.
Sutherland's parents divorced when he was 4. He moved from Los Angeles to Toronto with his mother. In 1984, Kiefer Sutherland got his debut in a Canadian Drama, The Bay Boy. He won a Genie Award for that role.
In 1992, Sutherland appeared in A Few Good Men alongside Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.
In 2001, Kiefer Sutherland got his first regular role on a television series in Fox's "24". He played a CTU agent, Jack Bauer. He won a Golden Globe for his role in the series.
In 2006, Kiefer Sutherland was nominated for an Emmy in best-actor category for his role in 24 as Jack Bauer.
