Grant appeared in in the Merchant-Ivory production adaptation of E.M Forster's Maurice in 1987.
His first big movie was Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. It is one of the most succesful British film ever.
In 1995 Hugh Grant was arrested for lewd conduct after soliciting the services of Los Angeles prostitute Divine Brown. He disappeared from public for a while. In 1999, he came back with a big success, "Notting Hill", a romentic comedy movie, alongside with Julia Roberts.
In 2001, he starred in another box office movie, "Bridget Jones's Diary".
