Harrison Ford was born in Chicago, Illinois to an Irish father and Russian-Jewish mother. He didn't do well in the academic area. He went to Maine Township High School in Park Ridge Illinois and attended Ripon College in Wisconsin for a while before he dropped out.
In 1962, Harrison Ford appeared in TV series The Virginian and Ironside in 1967. Ford didn't think that he could be successful in acting, so he decided to switch career to professional carpentry.
In 1973 Ford got an audition for American Graffiti through his carpentry client. He got the role as Bob Falfa. The movie was surprisingly successful.
Four years later, Harrison Ford got his career breakthrough when he got a role of Han Solo in George Lucas' Star Wars. After Star Wars, his career was skyrocketing. He landed a role in Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. He received Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for his role in Witness in 1985.
