Gwendolyn Renee Stefani began the band No Doubt with her brother, Eric, when they were teenagers. Originally Gwen was the backing vocals. She became the lead singer their original lead singer, John Spence, committed suicide.
On 14 September 2002, she married English rocker Gavin Rossdale in London. She is now stepmother to Gavin's sixteen-year-old daughter, Daisy Lowe.
In 2005, Gwen had her biggest hit of her solo career, "Hollaback Girl". The hit was recorded at the last minute. After finished recording "Love, Angel Music, Baby", Gwen went back into the studio and came up with "Hollaback Girl" because she thought the album was lacking of power anthem.
