Geena's birth name is Virginia Elizabeth Davis. She was the tallest girl in high school at 6 feet tall. She majored in fine arts at Boston University and then moved to New York where she found work as a model. This helped her with bills while she looked for acting work.
Geena was nominated for the Academy Awards for her performance in Thelma & Louise (1991). The next turning point was the movie A League of Their Own (1992). She married Renny Harlin and produced the films Speechless and Cutthroat Island which were not successful. She has starred in The Long Kiss Goodnight and Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2 .
