Ethan Hawke was born in Austin, Texas as Ethan Green Hawke, to teenage parents who separated whe he was a toddler. Hawke attended West Windsor - Plainsboro High School in Central New Jersey. He graduated from Hun School of Princeton in 1988.
In 1984, Ethan Hawke made his film debut in Explorers alongside River Phoenix. After that, Hawke attended School of Drama of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh for five months before he dropped out.
During his short study at Carnegie Mellon, Hawke was chosen to play in Dead Poets Society. In 1991, Hawke portrayed a young gold miner in White Fang and the following year he played as a troublesome student in Waterland.
Besides a good actor, Ethan Hawke is also known as a good writer. He published his first novel,
The Hottest State : A Novel in 1996. In 2002, he wrote Ash Wednesday and Manhattan Story in 2003.
Ethan Hawke has appeared as guest star in hit television drama, Alias in 2003. In 2004 he plays in Taking Lives alongside Angelina Jolie.
