Emily Procter was born in Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended East Carolina University, majoring in journalism and dance.
After graduation she got a job as the weather girl at the Greenville CBS affiliate.
Emily moved to Los Angeles to take acting lessons and to purse professional acting career. She got several small roles in movies, including Jerry Maguire.
In 1999, she got her career breakthrough when she landed a role in NBC's series The West Wing as Ainsley Hayes.
In 2002, she was casted in CBS' top series, CSI: Miami as Detective Calleigh Duquesne alongside David Caruso.
She appears in Big Momma's House 2 in 2005.
