David Caruso was born to an Italian father and Irish mother. Caruso graduated from Archibishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, Queens, New York.
In 1976, David Caruso was cast as "Archie Andrews" for a pilot based on "Archie" comic strip. He was replaced right before shooting began.
Caruso got his first real TV role in "For Love and Honor", an NBC show. The show did not last for long. After some small roles, in 1991 David Caruso finally got his career breakthrough when he landed a role as "John Kelly" in NYPD Blue. He left the show after a salary dispute.
In 2002, David Caruso opened an upscale clothing and home furnishing store in South Miami, Florida called "Steamed". In the same year he landed a lead role in CBS' C. S. I: Miami, a spin-off of the original CSI. as Horatio Caine.
Besides TV series, Caruso has also starred in some movies, such as Kiss of Death and Proof of Life.
