Christian was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales as Christian Morgan Bale. He is the obly brother to three older sisters. Christian Bale was raised in England, Portugal and California. His father, David Bale, is a former commercial pilot. His father divorced with Bale's mother and married Glora Steinem in 2000.

Bale started his acting career at age 9 when he took a part in some British television commercials. The first commercial was for Pac-Man cereal. At age 10, he acted on stage with Rowan Atkinson in the London West End's comedy called "The Nerd".

Bale attended college in Southern California in the mid 1990s.

In 1987, he wowed critics with his devastating performance in Steven Spielberg's WWII epic, Empire of the Sun.

In 2000, Christian Bale portrayed a psycho serial killer in American Psycho. Christian Bale will appear in Warner Bros Pictures' latest Batman movie, Batman Begins as Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, which will be released in 2005.
