Update: Check out my Playstation 3 auction at eBay.
Nov 5, 2006 12:55AM
A forum post in fatwallet.com says that bestbuy.com is taking pre-orders on PlayStation 3 60GB model (System-ABC SKU: 8008489). Without any hesitation, I entered my credit card number and my order went through! Realizing that this is too good to be true, I don’t put up my hope too high and expect my order to be canceled soon.
I received a confirmation email from bestbuy.com a few minutes after that.

I work at worst buy. I got an “insider’s” letter recently at work, and I believe I can explain why they canceled their order.
Sony isn’t delivering their PS3’s throught the normal route. I looked up Nintendo Wii, and easily found that our store is receiving 102 units. However, if you try to look up PS3 in RSS, the store reports it will receive 0 units. Sony is actually delivering the PS3’s directly, through their own method. Thus, worst buy won’t know how many it will get, and thus can’t make reservations. Sux.
But on the bright side, at least you have a computer, so you don’t need a PS3.
6. Best buy employee | November 7th, 2006 at 9:58 am
You are soo wrong. We nevewr had pre-orders to the PS3. I work at best buy and have been there for a very long time and know that we never had any pre-orders anywhere. Either you got scamed and your shit out of luck or this is a completey absured article. Sorry man but you are a fake.
7. Joe | November 7th, 2006 at 10:16 am
No, this is really what happened to him. There was supposedly a glitch on the Best Buy website.

Best buy employee you ar an idiot. Before you go around calling someone a fake maybe you should find out what you are talking. I hope to god you dont work at a Best Buy near me, I can only imagine what you tell people when you think you are right but obviously not.
There was a glitch in the Best Buy system for pre-ordering PS3’s. http://www.ps3land.com/article-951.php

I am a Best Buy employee for 7 years and also a freelance programmer. I know how Best Buy system works and can guarantee that it is impossible to have a ‘leak’ like what this article describes.
This article is misleading and bring bad reputation to Best Buy. Please remove this article ASAP !
11. stupid bestbuy employees | November 7th, 2006 at 11:28 am
all you people that work for bestbuy or program for bestbuy are stupid!!! there apparently was a glitch on their website where it did start taking pre-orders for ps3…how do i know?? because i ordered one and apparently many people did.. so how can all these people be wrong???
maybe you guys just stop being so ignorant and just accept the fact that there was a glitch on the website
12. DAN AKROYD | November 7th, 2006 at 11:42 am
I PRE BOUGHT AROUND 500 HUNDRED UNITS FROM THAT SITE AND NOW I LEARN IT WAS ALL SOME INSIDER TECH GEEK JOKE……OHHHH MAN WAIT TILL I TELL MY AGENT ABOUT THIS!!!
13. Futureshop never messes around. | November 7th, 2006 at 1:01 pm
I know that I hate Futureshop, but at least they never “Kid” around when dealing with serious shit like this. I use to like BestBuy tell they screwed me around with several of my orders and purchases, at least Futureshop did what they could and help me out the best they could, unlike what BestBuy did on leaving me hanging. And I agree with ’stupid bestbuy employees’ with the fact that there was a glitch. Also how shallow and childish to call a customer a fake because they are speaking the truth and their opinion. As a business representative- you are not working in the right place if you are so quick to judge becasue without us customers you would not have a job now would you?
14. Nail | November 7th, 2006 at 2:11 pm
You realise Best Buy owns Future Shop, they’re the same company
15. mark | November 7th, 2006 at 2:12 pm
Yeah, I too believed it was too good to be true when the pre-orders started.

Actually it’s funny I was in a Futureshop awhile back buying my wife’s laptop and was told by the salesperson that Futureshop & Bestbuy aren’t the same. Then I got the laptop home at looked at the shipping notice that had BestBuy written as the shipping destination. :p
18. Best Buy | November 8th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
Wow Best buy got a lower rating then Radio Shack. I never shop at best buy because you can get things cheaper online but didn’t know people hated them that much.
19. VideoGamer#107 | November 8th, 2006 at 1:18 pm
I don’t care where I buy games, as long as the place doesn’t edit the game packege from its normal shipping form. I like getting video games at either futureshop or best buy, but I will get most of my games at a better shop then those two. Like EBgames, if I can’t find older games. And if I can remember right, the only place that really edits the package is Walmart.
