Anne Hathaway was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in New Jersey. She is the daughter of stage actress Kate McCauley and Gerard, an attorney.
Hathway attended Millburn High School. She is the first and the only teenager ever admitted to the acting at The Barrow Group in New York. She has won the Clarence Derwent Award for her performance in Carnival. She was also nominated for the 2002 Teens Choice Award in The Best Actress: Comedy for Princess Diaries.
Hathaway has appeared in many movies, including The Princess Diaries (2001), The Other Side of Heaven (2001) and Ella Enchanted (2004).
