Alicia Silverstone was born in San Fransisco, California. She is the youngest in the family. Her father,Monty Silverstone, was a real-estate investor and her mother, Didi Silverstone is a former flight attendant. Both are English.
Silverstone began her career at age six as a child model. It was all started when her father took some pictures of her and sent them to several modelling agencies. Some agencies liked her looks and led Silverstone to TV commercials.
In 1988, Silverstone appeared in The Wonder Years as Fred Savage's literal dream girl. In 1993, Silverstone got her first movie role when she landed a role in The Crush in which she portrayed a disturbed teenager who obsessed with an older man. The film wasn't impressed the critics, but it was a hit among its teenage audience. In 1994, she won "Best Villain" and "Breakthrough Performance" in 1994 MTV Movie Award.
During that year, she also worked on Aerosmith's music video, "Crazy" with Liv Tyler.
In 1995, Alicia Silverstone got her career breakthrough when she portrayed a spoiled, meddlesome but ultimately endearing Cher Horowitz in Clueless. This time she impressed both critics and audiences. Then. she signed a $10 million deal with Columbia Tristar and got a role of Batgirl in Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin.
1997 was a bad year for Silverstone. She produced her first movie, Excess Baggage and the movie didn't do well. She also received unending industry criticism of her weight. Her long-awaited Batman & Robin was also a flop.
In 1999, Alicia came back with a romantic comedy, Blast from the Past alongside Brendan Fraser. She starred in NBC's Miss Match in 2003. In 2004, she plays in Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince, Jr..
