Adrien Brody was born and raised in New York. His mother is the Hungarian-born photojournalist Sylvia Plachy.
Adrien's first acting show was when he performed magic shows at children's birthdays as a child, as 'The Amazing Adrien'.
With the encouragement of his mother, Adrien attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts and High School for the Performing Arts. In 1988, he made his television debut in PBS's Home at Last.
After coping the disappointingly minor role in "The Thin Red Line", Adrien confirmed his rising star status when he landed a role in Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam". After that, he continued to show his acting skills in movies like "Oxygen", "Liberty Heights", "Bread and Roses" and "The Affair of Necklace".
In 2002, Adrien starred in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" as a brilliant pianist and Polish Jews who bears witness to Nazi atrocities. Adrien won a Best Actor Oscar for his role in that movie.
